Linkedin profile tips
FROM BOOZEBIZ RECRUITERS
Many people don’t know the recruiting side of the table – nor should you be expected to.
Unless you are working with a Recruiting Agency like BoozeBiz, a job placement service, or a career coach – you may not be knowledgeable about how we actually work, and what we actually look for.
So here is a peek behind the curtain.
These days, Recruiters and Talent Acquisition teams often live on LinkedIn! It’s our 2nd resource when we are trying to fill a role with that perfect gem candidate that checks every box that hiring managers want to see. It’s also often our 1st resource is the internal ATS/CRM system that many Recruiters have. *If you’re not in our database yet, fill out your BoozeBiz Bio on our website to ensure we have your info*
When we search Linkedin, we see a massive list of people, and have to narrow it down to who really fits that open role.
Here are some tips to be sure you are coming up in those narrowed down, “sourcing” searches.
-
- Set your actual location (not just “USA”)
Recruiters search by specific cities and regions, so if your location isn’t accurate, you may not show up. If you’ve moved recently, make sure to update it. - Use “Open to Work” the right way
If you don’t want the green banner, you can still turn it on in recruiter view. Your current employer won’t see it, but recruiters will. Be sure to include the roles you’re open to and the type of work (full-time, contract, part-time). - Make your headline work for you
Include your current role so Recruiters can quickly understand what you do, without clicking into your profile. - Keep your experience up to date
If you’ve left a role, update it. Avoid listing multiple “Present” roles unless they’re accurate. If you’re working across multiple brands, projects, or clients, include them clearly. - Add context to your title
Even if your title sounds clear, add a short description of what you actually do. Think of your LinkedIn like a resume, not just a job title. - Include your education
If you went to college, list it. - Get recommendations
Ask former Managers or Supervisors for LinkedIn recommendations. It’s like a mini reference check upfront, and adds credibility to your profile. - Have a profile photo
Profiles without a photo can come across as inactive or less trustworthy. A simple, professional photo goes a long way. - Make it easy to contact you
Add a personal email to your profile. If Recruiters can’t reach you easily, you may miss out on opportunities.
- Set your actual location (not just “USA”)
